Uncle Kracker Regrets Guilty Plea
Uncle Kracker said he did not sexually assault a woman in August in a North Carolina nightclub, and he’s not entirely happy with his decision to avoid a trial by pleading guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor assault.
The 33-year-old singer, whose real name is Matthew Shafer, told The Detroit News and The Oakland Press of Pontiac on Monday that he struck a 26-year-old woman after she hit him. He said it started when he bumped into the woman at the club during a party after a concert in Raleigh.

Shafer pleaded guilty last month to the misdemeanor assault charge. A judge sentenced him to a year of probation, fined him $1,500 and ordered him to undergo an alcohol assessment.
“There was no sexual anything involved,” Shafer told the News.
Prince Dumped Over Text Messages?
5According to Britain’s Sun paper, Prince Harry’s girlfriend dumped him because of mysterious text messages from a secret admirer.
The paper reports that after hearing a “whispered conversation” Davy secretly looked at Harry’s cell phone and saw messages that disturbed her. She confronted Prince Harry, 23, and they had a “blazing row.”
The younger prince is a notorious party boy and a source told the Sun that women are constantly throwing themselves at him. Davy, 22, understands that dating a prince “comes at a price.”
But apparently the text messages were the last straw. She discovered them after the prince returned from watching England’s Rugby World Cup semi-final against France in Paris nearly a month ago.
“The argument deepened when Harry continued to go to the Rugby World Cup final — even though Chelsy knew that the girl in question would probably be there,” the source told the Sun.
Yesterday, the Sun reported that Davy wanted to return to her native Zimbabwe. She is currently a student at the University of Leeds.
